Starting tomorrow, I’ll be adding a new category called “Gone Too Soon.”  GTS will focus on great soap s, that unlike Guiding Light, didn’t have a long run. Check it out starting tomorow.

CBS Cancels “Guiding Light”

glWe all knew it was coming. I actually thought the show had another year left, but not much more. What can I say about a show that I grew up watching? I might have been away from Springfield for some time, but I actually got back into the show recently – and I liked it a lot.  The GL of 2009 doesn’t resemble the GL I grew up watching, but it was still “my” show.  I’m not going to get my hopes up that P&G or TeleNext (or whatever they are calling themselves today) shops the show to another outlet. Instead, I will enjoy the next six months of GL

And on September 18, I will curl up on my favorite chair and watch the Bauers, Lewis’s, Spauldings, and Coopers for one last time and hope that they live happlily after after.

There will be full posts for both General Hospital and Guiding Light over the weekend.  Due to pre-emptions over New Years week, my GH week spilled over into my GL week!

Double Duty!

Posted in Uncategorized, What I'm Watching with tags , on January 5, 2009 by Jeff

guiding-lightThis week is a little different as I will watch General Hospital on Monday and Tuesday to make up for last week’s pre-emptions as well as the full week of Guiding Light.

General Hospital got a shot in the arm from last week’s wedding.  Can it hold up? Springfield seems like an entire other town that it used to be when I watched it before (it seems more like a small town in Northern New Jersey…), but it was for many years “my show.”  I hope I find something that will makt it “mine” again.

This Week: General Hospital!

generalhospitalIt’s Monday and time for me to set my TiVo to record General Hospital.  I’m scared. I hope I don’t get shot by a mobster.  I haven’t watched the show regularly since the late 90’s so I’m going to prepare myself for the “new” GH.  Please note: GH will either be pre-empted or air classic episodes on New Years Eve and New Years Day, so I will do double duty next Monday and Tuesday when I watch both GH and GL.

I apologize for taking so long to get my post about Days online, but I promise it will be up by Wednesday.  If you’re keeping track of my viewing habits, Days did not make my permanent TiVo list.
